Another successful Run

Well last night, I stretched and went for another slow run. I made the two miles with little pain. I get my heal lifts today, and returning my shoes to roadrunner sports, the Dr thought that staying in the same shoes that I have put 500 miles in would be a safer bet than switching to a different pair. However the pair I will be getting Asics Gel Evolution 3 (Motion Control Plus) rather than the Asics 2130 trail (more of a stability shoe). On the Asics web site they show that the two shoes do overlap some with regards to support, but the evolution is something that I have had success with.

Best of luck to everyone this weekend, and be safe.

I rolled my right ankle a long time ago. When I started running again, I had to basically work all of the scar tissue out of it. In the process of doing that, I irritated the bursa at the bottom of my Achilles tendon. One of the things I did to help with that is replace the crap hole insoles that come in running shoes with something better. I went with Superfeet Green, and they made a big difference for a heavy guy like myself.

Another thing you can do is pay special attention to your form. Make sure you are landing in the midfoot. A heel strike will put serious pressure on your bursa, tendon, and bones in the lower leg.

You have a great weekend too! I do appreciate you coming by :-)

ooo forced stretching. That is probably a good thing. My husband pretty much got similar advice to what Wes is saying about putting better insoles in. I hope your plan works!!

All right, Eric, on your way back.

Running without pain is a good thing. I'm not sure about continuing to use shoes with that much mileage in them, though. As long as you keep the mileage in them low, it should be ok for the short time, but you probably are best to replace them out.

Sounds great, Eric. I wear the ASIC Foundations and love them. They have totally taken care of my shin splints! I think you will like the Evolution!

"Injury" has got to be the scariest word there is.

Hope you enjoy your new kicks! So fun to see you today at RR ~ somehow, my older son ended up leaving there with a new pair of shoes too. He now thinks he's cool cause he has Asics like mom :)

i SWEAR on ASICS, the GT1200! The trail once are bad, no support at all. i run most of my trail races with regular road shoes...i'm waiting for the perfect trail shoe;-)

Good luck!

I would absolutely have to echo what Chad said. Though the shoes (model) work for you, THOSE shoes have likely expired in their useful lifespan. Hopefully you can get into another pair soon and get things feeling better.
